Friends,
Please join your peers for the March meeting for the Delaware Valley Chapter of RIMS live and in person.
Registration is now open for our March meeting: “Investigating People and Places: Diving into Geosocial Data”. – Risk Managers, Carriers, attorneys, paralegals, Insurance Brokers, and Students.
Social media and background investigations allow the discovery of information related to a claimant or plaintiff’s criminal and civil background as well as their activities of daily living. Leveraged correctly, this information, including financial distress, secondary employment, pre-existing medical conditions, hobbies and interests, familial obligations, criminal, and litigation history, and posted photographic/video content may be used to defend against frivolous worker’s compensation and liability claims.
This session will share fascinating trends in social media investigations, privacy and legal issues and concerns, as well as the importance of properly preserving, authenticating, and presenting evidence in court. Also, the dynamic between social media monitoring and surveillance will be looked at through a case study involving 16,000 days of surveillance data. Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, as well as case law as it pertains to social media investigations will be covered in depth.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the CCB Henry Art Gallery at Penn State Great Valley, 30 E. Swedesford Road, Malvern, PA 19355 beginning with networking and breakfast at 8:00 am followed by the session at 8:30 am. The program will conclude at 10:00 am.
